Oldskool remote development

I’ve been a long time user of Visual Studio Code. While you can do everything you can think of with vs code, I was looking for something new. In the past I’ve used several tools like gitpod, GitHub codespaces, coder, … and while they all work great, I still have some kind of need to do some old linux terminal shit and host it myself. I’m looking into a setup using a remote container, hosted in my homelab, where I’m running tmux with multiple long-lived processes using devbox.

Back online

Okay, my last post was from the end of July. But I’ve been busy! In August I took my summer holidays. My goal was to work a bit on personal projects but in the end I didn’t do much. More offline time can’t hurt right? Starting September I did some upgrades to my homelab. I set up a Zero Trust network. Created a remote coding environment using tmux. For monitoring services I’m using Beszel now.
